Springfield Police Investigate N. Marion Homicide
On December 6th, 2021, at approximately 3:28 p.m., Springfield Police Officers were dispatched to 2051 N. Marion in reference to a subject having been shot. When officers arrived, they located a female who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased person was identified as Lavona R. Haddock, 61, from Springfield, Missouri. Notifications have been made to her family.
The SPD Homicide Unit identified the suspect in the case as Lilburn W. Motley, a 66-year-old male from Springfield, Missouri. Motley was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail. The case was presented to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
On 12/07/2021, Lilburn Motley was charged with 1st Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office cautions that the charges contained in the felony complaint are merely allegations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
Detectives continue to investigate the case and ask that anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at (417) 984-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at (417) 869-TIPS (8477).
This incident marks the twenty-fifth homicide investigated by SPD in 2021.
